HOUSTON KENSHIKAN
Welcome to Kenshimerch: your dedicated shop for the Kendo, Iaido, and Jodo community.
We started Kenshimerch because we saw a need: there just aren’t many good options out there when it comes to merch for our arts, and custom gear is expensive. As a non-profit, our goal is to support the community. Our mission is to change that by offering quality products at more affordable prices.
We believe Kenshimerch can help connect, celebrate, and empower the community. Whether you're looking for custom Dojo swag, promote an event, or fundraise, we want to want to help. You can also find our products at California Budogu booths. Let’s build Kendo, Iaido, and Jodo together.

The Kenshi Behind Kenshimerch: Shamina
Shamina Chang has dedicated much of her life to the practice of Kendo, Iaido, and recently: Jodo. Based in Houston, Texas, Shamina is a instructor at the Houston Kenshikan and Cougar Kendo at the University of Houston. She is also Vice President of the Southern US Kendo & Iaido Federation. Shamina credits her training and the support of the community for helping her survive one of life’s greatest challenges: cancer. In 2019, Shamina was diagnosed with breast cancer. The international community provided support played a vital role in her recovery. This inspired her to give back in any way she could.
Kenshimerch is the result of that inspiration—a labor of love born from gratitude. After years of fundraising for events and teams, as well as creating products for California Budogu, Shamina decided to take things a step further by creating Kenshimerch.
